Rupin Pass Trek

Duration: 8 Days / 7 Nights
---- Itinerary ----
Day 1 – Dehradun to Dhaula (Base Camp) – 210 Km.
Dhaula is our base camp for our trek. All trekkers need to assemble at the Dehradun Railway Station by 6.30am. Dhaula Camping site is a sleepy hamlet and the last road head of Uttarakhand.
Day 2 – Dhaula (Base Camp) to Sewa – 9 Km.
Our day today starts with an easy walk on the trail till we reach Sewagaon. Many water streams accompany us throughout our trek. We exit the Dhaula village via cattle shelter and incline upwards for 20 minutes. This incline would give you a completely different picture of the nature around you. We will reach the Rupin river bed with hills on both sides. From here we follow a meandering trail through the apricot and apple trees for 50minutes approx. To reach Gosangu (Sewa). Here we will witness a closed temple with a lot of trophies and medals hanging on its wall. Once we are outside Sewa, our team will arrange for your camp on the verge of the Rupin River. The campsite will not be pleasing with the humid climate, beach with sand beneath and smooth rocks asides. Rupin river is our camping site for today as we stay refreshed with the clear cold water of the Rupin River.
Day 3 – Sewa to Jhaka – 10 Km.
Our trail today is to Jhaka via Gosangu, so make sure to have enough rest, food and stretch. This trail is landslide prone as we start crossing a crop field and enter into the forest that is very thick not to feel the bright sunny day. Moving further we will come across two bridges on the road heading to Kwar. Cross the iron bridge and join the left trail which going forward merge with the hanging path going to Jiksun Village. Follow the instruction of your trek leader carefully as the trail is very uncertain, narrow & almost hanging on the steep slope of the mountain. As we reach Jiksun, we will notice a peaceful change all of a sudden. Relax and reflex enough as we have another snaky climb of 35kms to Jhaka which is through the forest of deodar and walnut.
Day 4 – Jhaka to Saruwas Thatch – 7 Km.
Also known as the hanging village for its location is the charming Jhaka village at the edge of the mountain with a magnificent view. The best part of today’s trek is having multiple rivers flowing in and through the Rupin. We start the trail from Jhaka village by entering the forests with pine and maple trees followed by a sudden curve, where the whole scene will change from greenery to white sprinkled landscape. That is where is the excellent snow bridge is which goes across Rupin. The post is crossing the bridge we walk and enter another forest in about an hour and a half. A bit further post the forest we reach our campsite for today at Saruwas Thatch.
Day 5 – Saruwas Thatch to Dhanderas Thatch – 6 Km.
Today is one of the best trek paths of Rupin Pass as we head towards Dhanderas Thatch. We walk along the trail as the snow patches stuck on the left walls of the valley keeps getting bigger as we walk the Rupin Water Fall. A climb between the forest and here we are at the top edge of the valley. The view is magnificent with the waterfall cascading to form Rupin below and green meadow spotted with yellow marigolds is spread across the miles. Walk further and climb through the crisscross path to reach another snow bridge to reach the valley with charming multicoloured wildflowers. Walk further, and we will contact the Rupin Riverbed. Cross the river using the most significant snow bridge of all today, and we are at the campsite for today in Dhanderas Thatch.
Day 6 – Dhanderas Thatch to Upper Water Fall – 4 Km.
We are at Dhanderas thatch – The biggest and most alluring meadows of Himalayas explored. Indulge in fun activities with the fellow trekkers while camping in nature’s full charming lap. The base of Dhanderas Thatch is a kilometre walk and in between hopping through the plenty of water streams followed by a walk through marigolds to arrive at snow patch of the waterfall. Cross the big boulder, and now it’s time for your ice axe as you may even need to cut through the snow patches till you arrive at a significant snow bridge. The sight is lovely from the snow bridge with tremendous of a waterfall flowing down from the sky and getting disappeared below the deck. Now we need to reach the other side of Rupin with a steep climb through the slopes, and here we are finally at our next campsite alongside the upper waterfall.
Day 7 – Upper Water Fall to Ronti Gad via Rupin Pass – 10 Km.
Today’s trek starts with a steep climb alongside the long stretch of snow patch for an hour till we reach the campsite of Rati Pheri. Rati Pheri is a total game changer in the scenery with an astounding distant view of Rupin Valley. We walk further on the trail of snow with our expertise from Rati Pheri to reach Rupin Pass Gully. Relax as what lies ahead is an arduous climb of 15-20mins. A few movements downwards and we reach a point where we slide down the snow line towards that Rukti Gad. Another hour walk and a sharp descendant to arrive at Ronti gad. Ronti gad is a chilling campsite with green meadows amidst the snow slopes.
Day 8 – Ronti Gad to Sangla – 12 Km.
Today will be very strenuous as we descend on the steep pressurizing your knees and foot. It is recommended to follow the instructions of the trek leader to fall without hurting your knees and foot. We support the Shepard trail heading towards Sangla Kanda for another 1.5 hours to reach the valley of Ronti Gad. The view is fantastic as we have to our left is Rukti Gad and to our right is Nalgani Pass covered with snow. The most amazing sight here is the peak of Mt. Kinner Kailash right in front with the meadows of Sangla Kanda asides you on edge. Below is the Sangla Kanda Lake far away surrounded by the small village is our destination. Our last and final trek to Sangle is the wide trail through the small forest of Pines, post which we descend further for half an hour to Baspa Village. From Baspa Village is our last climb of 20mins to a motorable road of Sangla.
